Revolution Church has a huge heart for the lost and destitute of our time. We love God and love people and believe that the Gospel of Jesus Christ needs to be spread to everyone, everywhere. We are a spirit filled church that is "outside of the box" in the way we worship, preach, and live. We value community, diversity, and being multi-racial. Church, to us, is about being a family of people that genuinely care for one another. We are not religious, we are not traditional, and we are not about building our own kingdom. We are relational, we are relevant, and we are all about building the Kingdom of God.
Our Vision:
Revolution Church exhists to reach the lost with the Gospel of Jesus Christ so they can become fully devoted to God and His mission.
Our Mission:
To reach out to the community and equip the church to live out their purpose for the Kingdom of God.
Our Philosophy:
Church has to be exciting and uplifting! It is a place where the wounded, broken, seeking, and hungry people can come receive the hope, love, and faith in Jesus Christ. We believe in being authentic, being real, and being in relationship with one another. We do not see tradition or “religion” as the answer so we don’t believe that methods are sacred. We believe the Message is sacred! We are a church that believes in being in the thicket of community and getting in the trenches with people. We believe that serving people in and outside the church walls is whelps us earn the right to be heard so that we can reach people with the Good News. God accepts all of us, but His Holy Spirit and His Holy Word is what changes us. We don't judge people into a relationship with Christ, we love people into a relationship with Christ as God changes people from the inside out.
Core Values:
Preaching the Word: the Word of God will be preached with passion and conviction as it is absolute truth without fail. “How will people know unless they hear, and how will people hear unless the gospel is preached.”
Relevant Worship: expressing our thanks and praise to God in various ways like: Songs, music, art, dance, and so on.
Building Relationship: effective ministry is done through relationship: this is how we build community, accountability, and safety
Building Up Believers: believers need to be discipled and then released to walk in their calling. God can use anybody and he equips those that He calls.
Servanthood Evangelism: we are an outreach focused church that believes church happens Sunday through Monday, not just on Sunday. Serving the lost is a great way to reach the lost.
Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age. (Matthew 28:19)

Alpha Hayward is the priveledged senior pastor of Revolution Church. He is married to his beautiful wife, Monica Hayward, and has 3 lovely girls: Mahala, Kalena, and Kiana. The Hayward family has been involved in two previous church plants and are loving the experience of this third church plant in SE Portland. Monica and Alpha have served in youth ministry for over 12 years and have a strong passion for lost and hurting people. Alpha also serves as an evangelist with the NGA, which is the Next Generation Alliance with Luis Palau. This is Alpha's first time as a senior pastor, but has over 6 years in elder leadership and has always been a devout servant of the Lord since the age of 20.
Alpha accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior around the age of 10 at an Easter service put on by Portland Foursquare Church. Ever since that encounter with God, Alpha has not stopped loving God. Around age 14, Alpha discovered the Lord's call on his life to be a preacher. He preached his first sermon in the 8th grade youth group at Sunnyside Foursquare Church and has been preaching ever since. Alpha has a passion to preach the Word of God and has a strong conviction to be a Full Gospel preacher so that everyone can come to the full knowledge of Christ and His Truth.
Because of Alpha's strong passion to see people saved, he has been a part of many outreach events inside and outside of the local church and still continues to serve in this way today. Such events include: Spirit on the Mountain, Innovative Evangelist Conference, RAW, One Youth Rally, United Night of Worship, Portland City Fest, and Day in the Park. One of the things that Alpha likes to say is, "I'm and evangelsist trapped in a pastor's body". This is because Alpha believes that the church of Jesus Christ needs to respond to the need of reaching lost souls.
The best way to describe Alpha is that he is the kind of person who loves to figure out ways to meet needs. He is a high visionary type of guy with a lot of charisma and passion. He is a fearless leader, but stays sensitive to the Holy Spirit of God. Alpha is an encourger who always inspires hope in all people. He has a great sense of humor and enjoys being around people.
